{UAH} Why do people love Trump?

By Paul Roarke Jr. Retired Master Gunnery Sergeant US marine Corps (1981-2009)

This is not complicated and the answer is very simple. Though almost every one of his supporters will deny it, However, it's just like when people deny science, the age of the earth, etc. it's just true and it doesn't matter if you admit it or not. The bottom line is this whole Trump thing is way over thought.

First, a lot of people really do love Trump, that's obvious, but it's not for the reasons most people think: economics, judges, immigration, etc. That's what they'll tell you on the surface, but the real truth is much simpler. Trump channels the hidden fear, racism and hate that many people, (especially old white "Christians") have inside them. He's says things they have been thinking for a long time and really want to say, but can't because of the blowback they would get.

How do I know this? As an old white Christian, I've heard this stuff (whispered) for many years. Just watch his supporters at a rally, the more hateful and racist he gets, the louder they cheer. It's just that simple. I've have personally seen old white people almost giddy when they talk about Trump's latest insult to Obama, Muslims, immigrants and Democrats. They absolutely love it. When they are alone among themselves they never talk about economics, the courts, etc. It's his insults and hate speak they always talk about. They love it and will make any excuse in the world for it, as it's a deal they've made with themselves. The deal is as long as he lashes out against their enemies: non Christians, liberals, educated people, dems, foreigners they will strongly defend him and gladly follow him right over a cliff.

As someone who has studied and teaches "mass movements" and anti terrorism for over 10 years, remember this simple truth. No large movement can succeed without a leader that expresses the thoughts of the people within that movement. That's what Trump does. These ideas of racism and division aren't new and they certainly aren't Trump's ideas. He's just putting forth the old message of his followers in a new, louder and more decisive way.

In the end, he's their hero, he speaks for them in a way they want to, but can't and they love him for that. It's really just that simple
