{UAH} WBK:WHAT'S CAUSING THE FALLING OF NEW BUILDINGS?

Many buildings constructed before year 2000 didn't involve a lot of expertise, surprisingly most of the work back then was done by semi skilled professionals but they still firmly stand.
Why is it then that most buildings now fail even with so many professionals in the industry?

You realize that most of the buildings right now have so many stories unlike back then so there is no cram work needed in construction.Secondly most of the early buildings are erected on already identified firm ground.

The major cause of many building failures is attributed due to lack of following specifications. Unlike back then, now we need geotechnical investigations carried out on our sites irrespective of the value of the structure before structural designs are made. Each materials to be used on site have to be tested be it cement,aggregates,sand,steel etc. Materials engineers/technician have to be available on site to ensure quality control.

Most often time when we enter our buildings we forget about maintenance of the building yet during the design it's assumed the building is going to be fully maintened.

Most often times people tend to change design during the process of construction by adding more floors yet the same foundation remains.
