{UAH} Acting Navy Secretary Modly resigns abruptly after describing warship captain as ‘stupid’ in leaked audio

This week, Acting U.S. Navy Secretary Thomas Modly has been in the headlines because of his insult against Captain Brett Crozier — former commander of the USS Teddy Roosevelt warship. And only a day after describing Crozier as "stupid," CNN reported on Tuesday afternoon that Modly has submitted his resignation.
Modly relieved Crozier of duty for being outspoken about an outbreak of coronavirus on board the warship. And Modly was heard denouncing Crozier as "stupid" to the crew of the ship after the firing in leaked audio. But Crozier was popular among crew members: a video showed them giving Crozier a standing ovation and an enthusiastic sendoff.
Defense Secretary Mark Esper ordered Modly to apologize to Crozier over the insult, according to CNN.
The USS Teddy Roosevelt was stationed in the Pacific Ocean when the coronavirus outbreak occurred, and Crozier — fearing for the lives of crew members as the infection spread among their ranks — asserted that the warship was facing a major crisis. He has since been diagnosed with COVID-19.
