{UAH} FOOD DISTRIBUTION: CORRUPTION Vs COMPASSION.

As Ugandans prepare to get food assistance from govermment, I would like to remind the officials conducting the distribution that those Ugandans in the kind of areas pictured here are surely the ones who must be prioritized in the food assistance distribution exercise. Especially the disadvantaged families with children, the sick and the elderly. I am saying this because the information I am getting indicates little to non-existent priority criteria. It even seems that those who are more blessed in life are also scrambling to be listed for food rations, thereby putting the poorest of the poor at risk of not receiving any assistance whatsoever. Watching the exercise being conducted first in all the slums and other under-privileged areas is what the people of Uganda and the kind donors should see happening for the exercise to make any socio-economic sense or have any meaningful impact.

This is a difficult time for everyone. But not in equal measure. Therefore the individual greed of the privileged should leave place for unity and compassion towards the true needy. And I would recommend that any corruption unearthed in this exercise should result in culprits being thrown straight in jail or safe houses until the pandemic ends.
