Former Donald Trump fan Ann Coulter yesterday went on an extraordinary Twitter rant, calling the president a 'disloyal retard' and a 'blithering idiot.'

Coulter was incensed on Sunday after Trump tweeted 'Alabama, do not trust Jeff Sessions', the latest attack by the president on his former Attorney General.

The far-right pundit said Trump's endorsement of Tommy Tuberville - Sessions' opponent in the Republican primary - showed he was 'the most disloyal human God ever created.'

The author of the 2016 book 'In Trump We Trust' went on to say: 'I will never apologize for supporting the issues that candidate Trump advocated, but I am deeply sorry for thinking that this shallow and broken man would show even some remote fealty to the promises that got him elected.'

Trump was furious Sessions recused himself from overseeing special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation. Sessions ultimately resigned at Trump's request.

Coulter, 58, once one of the few people who Trump followed on Twitter, has sought to distance herself from the Republican president ever since she feels he betrayed his immigration pledges.

Coulter, 58, once one of the few people who Trump followed on Twitter, has gone after the president ever since she feels he betrayed his immigration pledges, particularly his failure to build the wall.

She defended Sessions in her tweets, saying he was 'the ONE PERSON in the Trump administration who did anything about immigration.'

It comes amid a bitter war of words between Trump and Sessions which centers around the Alabamian's time as AG and his infamous recusal in 2017.

Why did Coulter and Trump fall out?

In December 2018, Coulter - who had backed Donald Trump as the great hope of right-wingers - penned a column titled: 'Gutless president in wall-less country.'

She had run out of patience over Trump's election pledge to build a wall along the southern border to keep out Latino migrants.

She called Trump's a 'joke presidency' and said he was 'scamming' Americans.

Just three hours later, Trump unfollowed her on Twitter. This a stinging rebuke by the president - who follows just 46 people, while he has more than 80 million followers.

Prior to this Trump had tweeted about Coulter's 2016 book 'In Trump We Trust' being 'terrific.'

Since their fall out over the wall, Coulter has continued to criticize Trump over his failure to deal with illegal immigration.

In February 2019 she said: 'We put this lunatic in the White House for one reason (the wall).'

At the time Trump had been declaring a national emergency over the masses of immigrants at the border. Coulter had tweeted: 'The only national emergency is that our president is an idiot.'

In response Trump called her a 'wacky nut job' and insisted that he was 'winning on the border.'

Trump was furious Sessions recused himself from overseeing special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation. Sessions ultimately resigned at Trump's request.

Trump tweeted Saturday: '3 years ago, after Jeff Sessions recused himself, the Fraudulent Mueller Scam began. Alabama, do not trust Jeff Sessions. He let our Country down. That's why I endorsed Coach Tommy Tuberville (@TTuberville), the true supporter of our #MAGA agenda!'

Coulter disagreed with the president's analysis of how the 'Mueller Scam' came to pass, writing: 'Sessions HAD to recuse himself, you complete blithering idiot.

'YOU did not have to go on Lester Holt's show and announce you fired Comey over the Russian investigation. That's what got you a Special Prosecutor.'

She added: 'Yeah, it was Sessions fault Trump got a Special Prosecutor. You don't even need Nexis to see it was ALL TRUMP'S FAULT. He had to brag it that was HIS decision to fire Comey!'

Sessions tweeted last week that Trump was 'fortunate' he had recused himself and preserved the rule of law that had eventually exonerated the president in the Russia investigation.

Coulter responded to Sessions' tweet, saying: 'Observe: a gentleman - and a MAN, not a whining, blame-shifting, gigantic fruitcake.'

Coulter said of the upcoming Senate battle: 'This is going to be another Roy Moore catastrophe - also engineered by Trump.'

That a reference to the 2017 special election for the Senate seat vacated by Sessions in Alabama when Democratic candidate Doug Jones had defeated Republican candidate Roy Moore.

Trump had originally backed Luther Strange as the Republican candidate in that race before getting behind Moore - who was plagued by accusations of sexual misconduct.

Coulter added: 'GREAT WORK IN THE LAST ALABAMA SENATE RACE, MR. PRESIDENT! Keep it up and we'll have zero Republican senators. The next Republican president will be elected in the year 4820 ...

'TRUMP GOT ALABAMA A DEMOCRATIC U.S. SENATOR BY HIS IDIOTIC MEDDLING IN THE PRIMARY LAST TIME. If you know nothing else, Alabamians, you should do the opposite of what Trump recommends in a primary.'

Trump has chosen to back the political neophyte Tuberville over Sessions, the man who previously held the seat for 20 years.

Tuberville and Sessions will face each other in a July 15 Republican primary runoff ballot and then go onto challenge the incumbent, Jones, in November.

The president, in an interview that aired Sunday, again railed against Sessions and used the occasion to argue he outwitted a deep state conspiracy that tried to remove him from office.

'Jeff Sessions was a disaster as attorney general - should have never been Attorney General,' Trump told Sharyl Attkisson for her show 'Full Measure,' which airs on the Sinclair network.

'He's not mentally qualified to be Attorney General. He was the biggest problem,' the president continued.

Trump named Sessions, who was one of the first senators to support his presidential campaign, as his choice to lead the Justice Department shortly after he won the election.

'They always had the Department of Justice, but they kept it under Jeff Sessions,' Trump said in what appeared to be a reference to the 'deep state.'

Trump has been invested in the theory that there is a 'deep state' at work in the government bureaucracy - particularly the Justice Department - that tried to keep him from winning the 2016 election and then tried to remove him from office.

In his interview with Attkisson, he hit out at some of the officials he has accused of being part of such an effort, particularly former FBI Director James Comey, who Trump again called a 'dirty cop'; and former FBI agents Lisa Page and Peter Strzok, whose exchanged anti-Trump texts during the 2016 election.

'I have a chance to break the deep state. It's a vicious group of people. It's very bad for our country,' Trump said in the interview.

'They never thought I was going to win and then I won. And then they tried to get me out,' he added.

But his conspiracy theory has - not yet anyway - panned out.

There have been no arrests and internal Justice Department investigations found no evidence of wrong doing on the part of any person on Trump's list.

Sessions, meanwhile, has returned to Alabama to run for the Senate seat he resigned from in order take the job as Trump's attorney general.

Trump's latest salvos comes after he formally endorsed Session's opponent in the Republican primary, college football coach Tuberville.

Sessions' took to Twitter Saturday to defend himself against Trump's charges and said he agreed with his former boss that the Mueller investigation was 'phony.'

Sessions also insisted that he was the one who urged Trump to fire Comey as FBI director.
