{UAH} BESIGYE'S FACEBOOK PAGE IS LIKE A UNIVERSITY LECTURE ROOM!
Oh God, I was reluctant to listen to Dr.Kiiza Besigye's sermons about COVID-19 today; I would have been disappointed if I had missed—the guy is endowed with profound knowledge about different issues. Every time I listen to him, I learn something I did not know before. Personally, I cannot believe he is 64 but with such a 5G brain- he must be reading a lot. His response today about the fall of the prices of oil during COVID, how a country should build food and oil reserves before any emergency, and all-round knowledge about the economics of our country, left me so mesmerized!
The way he talks about coronavirus and other health issues, is amazingly easy for a lay man in Uganda to understand what he is saying. Harnessing public health promotion to Ugandan levels of understanding is not easy, and it must be a result of decades of interaction with different groups in the country. When responding to issues, he relates to Ugandans and what they are going through now, a reason he expects the govt to end the lockdown as soon as possible.
Nothing much has changed this year despite the COVID-19 epidemic—politics, moral posturing fill up too much of our time, and no one ever seems to change his mind. As a result, a lot of people on his page ask him more about politics than health matters.
Some of the comments from his haters reflect the basic fear that he will slow down the gravy train in unpredictable ways. That is why some want to know if he is going to stand again for presidency. They want him buried off the scene for good. No dictator likes intelligent people to hang around in politics for so long.
It is necessary to emphasize that I am not a 'Besegyeist', or radical, as some people portray me. That said, I would recommend Ugandans to follow his page. Trust me, you will learn something useful!
