Trump's Lincoln Memorial town hall beats CNN and MSNBC ratings combined

More viewers watched President Trump’s Fox News town hall on Sunday than viewers who watched CNN and MSNBC combined.

America Together: Returning to Work, hosted by Martha MacCallum and Bret Baier from 7-9 p.m., drew 3.8 million viewers Sunday. The virtual town hall held at the Lincoln Memorial drew 637,000 viewers in the key 25-54 age demographic, according to Nielsen Media Research.

During the live event, Fox boasted an advantage of 463% over MSNBC and 228% over CNN. During the 11 p.m. rebroadcast, Neilsen figures show a 310% advantage over MSNBC viewing figures.

The two-hour broadcast featured ordinary people who had submitted questions by video about COVID-19, the economy, and the president’s handling of the crisis. Vice President Mike Pence and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin also joined the event to answer questions.

Trump compared himself to President Abraham Lincoln during the broadcast, saying he has received more hostile media coverage than the 16th president, who was assassinated. Those comments were met with criticism from political pundits.

"I am greeted with a hostile press, the likes of which nobody has ever seen. The closest would be that gentleman right up there. They always said Lincoln — nobody got treated worse than Lincoln. I believe I am treated worse. “

Ben Rhodes, a former adviser to President Barack Obama, said Trump has “debased the office that Lincoln once held.”

A town hall hosted by Baier and MacCallum on March 5 still holds the record for the most-watched presidential election town hall, with 4.2 million total viewers.
