CAN I SUE ANYONE WHO I HAVE DONE SOMETHING FOR?

We heard that Bad Black has been demanding for UGX 550million "mbu" she didn't do government work for free. She says she was told by "Precision Media" that she was working on behalf of the Ministry of Health. She has even threatened to sue, Ministry of Health, UNICEF and World Health Organization. She says she was promised a meeting with the President but she has not been invited to the "White House of Uganda" since. Which prompted us to talk about that thing called a contract. What is a contract and what do I do when it is not honoured?

WHAT IS A CONTRACT?

In the simplest possible terms, a contract is when people decide to do "something for something". For example, if the ministry of Health promises to give Bad Black something for her giving "advice" to girls, then she has a contract with the Ministry of Health. This means the Ministry of Health is obligated to give her the "something" (like the money) they agreed to.

However, if Bad black just woke up and thought "hmmm nze Shanita, i want to assure those girls who laugh laugh with truck drivers that they will get COVID19, and then her message is given to the Ministry to use, then there is no contract between her and the Ministry of Health. So, the ministry would be justified in being deaf to her demands for payment. So, the question to answer will be, did the Ministry of Health tell Precision Media to look for Bad Black, if not, then there is no contract.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE OTHER PERSON REFUSES TO PLAY BY THE RULES WE AGREED TO?

If the other person fails to do the "something" they promised, you can sue them in court. But you must make sure you sue those people who promised you the "something". So, in this case Bad Black has to show how WHO and UNICEF were involved with Precision Media and Ministry of Heath in this arrangement, if this is shown, then she might be able to sue them.
