{UAH} MINISTER AMELIA KYAMBADDE MEETS LANDLORDS OVER RENT ISSUES WITH TENANTS

MINISTER AMELIA KYAMBADDE MEETS LANDLORDS OVER RENT ISSUES WITH TENANTS

The Minister of Trade; Hon Amelia Kyambadde yesterday met with the Landlords of the arcades and discussed about the rent issues with tenants during the Covid19 lockdown.

The landlords who were in the company of their lawyer; Ssemambo Rashid of Ssemambo and Ssemambo Advocates told the Minister that their intention is to find a common ground with the tenants and government on this rent issue nothing else.

The Minister on her part said that government is committed to having all stakeholders in this matter coming up as well with a solution that favours all parties for purposes of harmony.

However on 4th June 2020 we broke the story that tenants under their umbrella KACITA had sued that landlords over the issue of rent, water and electricity.

Their argument is that they haven't been accessing their workplace and at same time. It been working as government had announced lockdown meaning they don't have the money to pay rent, water and electricity for three months of lockdown.
