On 13 April, Kakwenza Rukirabashaija author of the Greedy Barbarian was arrested by military police at his home in Iganga,Uganda, and charged with the alleged defamation and cyber-related crimes.

 Joseph Kabuleta was arrested on July 12, 2019, on charges of offensive communication against the president for publishing on his Facebook page under the title "Joseph Kabuleta Weekly Rant Returns,' where he alleged that  President Museveni's son and senior presidential advisor on special operations, Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba,  want to take over leadership of Uganda.

Dr. Stella Nyanzi responded to the president's speech of 26 January by calling him  "a pair of buttocks" on her 27 January 2017  Facebook page.
