{UAH} TODAY IN HISTORY

TODAY IN HISTORY
BY JOSEPH KABULETA
(Make sense of it, if you can)

#Today June 16, 2020 is when we learnt that popular radio/TV analyst Tamale Mirundi has been de-platformed after COVID thieves reported him to the president for making them look bad. The boss gave an order and the controversial political forecaster was thrown off all radios and televisions. This time they did not bother to go through Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) to at least give the ban an official spin.
QUESTION IS: Do you know of any other country in the world where private media companies take orders from the president about whom they should hire or host?

# Also today, June 16, 2020 is when the Electoral Commission unveiled plans for a 'scientific' election which will not involve rallies; all campaigns will be conducted through media platforms. Whoever thought that we could move from scientific weddings and burials to scientific campaigns?
QUESTION IS; If Museveni can order the media to shun Mirundi and they meekly comply, what will stop him from ordering them to cut off Bobi Wine or Kiiza Besigye?

# Today, June 16, 2020, the United States has recorded the lowest number of COVID-19 deaths, nearly two weeks after the mass demonstrations started across America following the death of a black man at the hands of the Minneapolis police.
QUESTION IS: What does that say about the whole COVID-19 social distancing narrative?

#Today, June 16, 2020, is when Donald Trump has announced that his first post COVID-19 lockdown mass rally slated for this Saturday in Tulsa Oklahoma has received one million ticket requests for an auditorium that holds just over 19,000 people. All attendees have agreed that they cannot sue the Trump campaign if they contact COVID-19 from the rally. Still, they are flying from across the country to be in Tulsa.
QUESTION IS: How does a country which had in excess of 100,000 COVID deaths open up for mass campaign rallies while Uganda which had zero deaths uses the virus as an excuse to make a complete mockery of an electoral process?

THE BIG QUESTION IS: Are there still any Ugandans pretending that this is a country and not a kingdom?
Uganda no longer qualifies to be called a Banana Republic; it's a banana plantation.
