{UAH} Uganda confirms 18 new virus cases out of 1,086 samples tested on Tuesday

Kampala—3, June 2020: On Wednesday morning, the Ministry of Health released Covid-19 test results for Tuesday.

"Results from samples tested on 02 June 2020 confirm 18 new COVID-19 cases bringing the total confirmed cases to 507," says the Ministry in a statement via Twitter.

Four new cases are truck drivers who arrived from South Sudan via Elegu, two are from Malaba while 12 cases are among alerts and contacts to previously confirmed cases.

Additionally, the Ministry announced that 21 positive foreign truck drivers were handed over to their respective countries of origin.

There are now a total of 82 recoveries.

Samples from Points of Entry tested on Tuesday were 774. Samples from alerts and contacts tested were 312.

"Total of 1,086 samples were tested."

Breakdown

Out of the 12 cases from contacts and alerts, 8 are from Amuru, 3 from Buikwe and 1 from Kyotera districts.

Out of 21 truck drivers, 13 are Kenyans, 3 Tanzanians, 4 Eritreans and 1 Congolese. All have been handed over to their country of origin.

Fighting Covid-19 in Uganda

Less than a month after launching #TONSEMBERERA, loosely translated as "Keep Your Distance" campaign, the Ministry of Health has introduced another campaign to protect Covid-19 patients.

Briefly, Tonsemberera, still ongoing demands every Ugandan to keep a four meter distance whenever in a public place to control mass virus spread and infections.
