   "This is the 70th attack on security forces since the announcement of of the lockdown and presidential directives to prevent and control the spread of the deadly Corona Virus among Ugandans. This puts both the forces and civilians on the risk of contracting COVID-19 as well as injuries from the attackers or even uncalled for injuries from self defense by our forces."

The rampaging by Museveni's security goons using the cover of enforcing his COVID-19 lockdown has this week visited Kyankwanzi district where they caused the death of 57 years old Disan Rwabugundure who fell into a ditch as he was running away from the security goons. Consequently, the residents of Gala Trading Centre are said to have clobbered Maj. Robert Nkwasibwe on the head before he fell into a comma and was rushed to hospital. On top of the above cited statement, the army claimed that the Major was leading a patrol team that was enforcing the night curfew. Why is not clear is how a patrol to enforce a night curfew would be led by a senior army Officer at the rank of a Major!!!  Even, if it was in a war situation, a patrol or reconnaissance party can't be led by a Major.  It's only in armies like that of Mobutu's Congo where almost every one was a General could a Major and lead a patrol party. Since a Major commands a Battalion (600 soldiers) in a military formation,  how could he be easily targeted by unarmed civilians!!!  This is how low Museveni's army has fallen.  It is also likely that there is more to this incident than meets the public eye.

However, the main issue of concern should be as to why unarmed civilians would dare attack armed security goons. The answer is just because the population is disgusted with the brutal conduct of Museveni's security goons. Last month, this website analysed the development as here below:

CHANGE OF GUARDS - During his last address, Museveni decried increased incidents of civilians attacking his security forces during the enforcement of his COVID-19 lockdown. He urged his security goons to 'disable' those civilians who attempt to carry out attacks against them. Interestingly, during the previous address he had pretended to condemn his security goons who had been brutalizing civilians during the enforcement of his COVID-19 decrees. Obviously, he knows that the so-called attacks by civilians was a last resort retaliation over the brutality of his security goons.

In Lira, the security goons were staging night roadblocks where they beat up and robbed locals before some of them, including a UPDF soldier, attached to Lira Barracks were arrested and are yet to be formally charged. In another incident, the army's Private Nuwanyine from 71 Battalion, and attached to the RDC, as an escort was hit with an iron bar in the eye as he lonely 'enforced' Museveni's lockdown. The incident was widely condemned by the regime without explaining why the said soldier was operating alone. In Kisoro District, locals are said to have attacked the army and police patrol squads like at night that left one soldier injured on the head. The Commanding Officer of 35 Battalion claimed that his official car had been stoned by locals shuttering its windscreen. It's only in extreme circumstances that civilians would stone their local based army Battalion Commanding Officer.

It's a desperate act manifesting into loss of confidence in the security forces. It's equally a big shame for the regime to publicly admit that its security forces are being stoned by the ordinary wananchi whose life and property the former claims to protect in the the name of Uganda People's Defence Force.
