{UAH} CHAOS AS M7 GRABS KEY KABULETA MAN

Reached via telephone this morning, Presidential aspirant Joseph Kabuleta vigorously dismissed claims that Amlan Tumusiime, who President Museveni made Hoima RDC late Friday evening, was his key campaigner in Bunyoro for 2021. Musevenists sources close to the Tumusiime deployment, which came only hours after Kabuleta declared his bid, had told Mulengera News this was Gen Museveni's way of ensuring the bid for the fearless Kabuleta (who has endured jail for his ruthless cyber bashing of the First Family) is dead on arrival (DOA).

"Tumusiime has always worked as a communications assistant in the office of NRM national chairman based in Kyambogo but had lately turned hostile to the regime and sounded disgruntled, a thing that made many in Hoima to perceive him as a Kabuleta man. The two have grown up together in Hoima as peers and they are like-minded which is why when Kabuleta declared his bid, Tumusiime was naturally expected to be key in his campaign planning and execution," says a senior mobilizer of the NRM close to the President.

"Just know his deployment as Hoima RDC, replacing Samuel Alaari Kisembo, is aimed at neutralizing Kabuleta and prevent him from turning Hoima into his political base. He is going to become a super RDC in whom the HE is going to invest a lot of resources to ensure Kabuleta is effectively isolated in his Hoima backyard," says a State House source deeply knowledgeable about Museveni's 2021 campaigning plans.

Kabuleta is a Munyoro and hails from Hoima district just like Tumusiime. "It's true we are close friends and have known each other for a long time but its cheap propaganda for any of those Museveni sycophants to claim that Amlan Tumusiime has been part of my campaign. It's public knowledge in Hoima that he is a Museveni apologist and as far as I know, he has never quit being an NRM mobilizer. Those Museveni guys are just short of things to celebrate," Kabuleta told Mulengera News this Saturday morning. "I know they might have had me in their calculus as to why they have had a one man's reshuffle to make Tumusiime Hoima RDC so that he gets facilitated to disorganize me from my Hoima base but I'm not shaken. My campaign is way more sophisticated than getting emotionally broken simply because Amlan Tumusiime has been deployed to neutralize me."

The Tumusiime deployment is clear indication that Gen Museveni, renowned for never underestimating anyone, is taking the Kabuleta challenge not very lightly. Perhaps reflecting on the perceived economic marginalization of his native Bunyoro, Kabuleta says economic issues and how every Ugandan can attain financial liberation is going to be his key campaign message and he has concentrated on exposing greed of NRM leaders and their indifference towards the common man (he calls this space fillers) who he says is leading destitute life.

BRIEF PROFILE

Amlan Tumusiime boasts of more than 10 years' experience in writing and publishing news and opinions through the state-owned New Vision. He is also an active panelist of radio and TV talk shows including with UBC where he participates in political debates every Saturday. He is an elder brother to the Hoima LC5 chairman Kirungi Kadili and Kikube Woman MP Kahwa Tophas Byagira is his auntie. As a leading ruling party campaigner in Bunyoro sub region, Amlan has always led the campaigns of all these NRM figures. In fact, last year he is the man who orchestrated Bobi Wine's huge political humiliation in Hoima when Asinasi Nakato, whose campaigns he spearheaded, badly lost the Hoima Woman MP race to Harriet Busingye, the NRM flag bearer, whose chief campaign manager was Amlan Tumusiime.

His relatively young age notwithstanding, Mr. Amlan Tumusiime has also headed the Museveni campaign effort in Bunyoro sub region during 2006, 2011 and 2016. He is clearly a kingmaker that NRM heavyweights can't avoid when designing winning political strategies ahead of a major election. In Kampala he lives in Nansana where he has his home. Actually in March this very year, Gen Henry Tumukunde severally drove to Nansana to hold secret talks with Imran Tumusiime whose eloquence he wanted to leverage on to make him the spokesperson for his nationwide campaigns. Tumusiime too would reciprocate this by driving to Tumukunde's house in Kololo but the two eventually disagreed when Tumusiime repeatedly insisted Museveni still remained the best thing for this country.

The other easily known fact about Tumusiime is that he is truly a close friend to Pastor Joseph Kabuleta, something the more than 30,000 Christians that attended overnight prayers on December 31^st 2019 at Sir Tito Winyi playgrounds saw and confirmed themselves. The end of year prayer crusade was organized by Vincent Museveni, the most influential pastor in Hoima, who heads Ebenezer City Church in Hoima. The much revered Kabuleta, who practiced journalism at New Vision with Amlan Tumusiime before becoming a church Minister (aka Pastor), was the day's main preacher and flamboyantly arrived with Amlan Tumusiime with whom they have always discussed political transition and how a post-Museveni Uganda deserves to look like.
