{UAH} NABILLAH MUST APOLOGISE OR QUIT!
I watched the NTV show last night where Hon. Nabilah Naggayi Sempala came off against Hon. Nathan Nandala-Mafabi, and I was chagrined to see the two people I respect pouring scorn on each other. I have physically met Nandala here in the UK at an FDC conference—he is a bull, charming, humorous and takes no prisoners. He is known to aficionados as an ardent champion of human rights and democracy. You go against him, get ready, as he is not afraid to stand on top of his car to show off some muscles—if it is necessary to defend what he wants.
Hon.Nabilah, on the other hand, is an intelligent, eloquent speaker, and I have spoken to her a few times in the past, and I really like her. So, moving forward, my advice to her would be that she apologizes to the FDC leadership and make peace, if she is still interested in remaining a member of the party. Short of that, she should quit the party and seek greener pastures elsewhere, like Gen. Mugisha Muntu and others have done.
Her career trajectory, with its early triumphs and later ruptures, is an object lesson in the social realities faced by a lot of opposition politicians, who don't come out in time to explain their standing on important issues, or who take voters for granted. It also illuminates the difficulties faced by opposing political parties to hang on to their leaders and members in the face of an opponent, like President Museveni.
Again, moving forward, FDC must front a presidential candidate if Besigye is not willing to come back. My choice would be either Nandala Mafabi or Hon.
Ibrahim Nganda Ssemujju. Their faces are already out there in the public compared to, probably, my third choice, President Amuriat. There is no need to unite with anybody on presidential elections as Nzee Museveni is in control of the whole 2021 electoral process. Fronting a presidential candidate will help FDC to reawaken its grassroot support, God willing.
People Power (PP) is likely to be registered as a political party after the 2021 elections. That's the only way Bobi will keep himself relevant after the 2021 elections. So, their immediate recruitment will be all those that sold themselves as PP during the campaigns. Therefore, it's risky for any party to be fully aligned to PP and Bobi Wine in these elections.
