{UAH} Will civil servants pay for pension?

The minister of Public Service Wilson Muruli Mukasa and his permanent secretary, Catherine Bitarakwate Musingwiire, revealed recently that cabinet is to approve that all civil servants contribute 5 per cent of their salaries to the pension scheme, with the government offering 10 per cent.

The change intends to relieve government of the financial burden of paying civil servants pension. As Muruli Mukasa was making this pronouncement, parliament was approving a special package of some public servants, allowing chief justices, deputy chief justices and other senior judicial officers to pocket a hefty pension and continue earning their full month salaries even in retirement.

Is the chief justice and others in that category also to be subjected to contributing part of their salaries to the pension scheme? Or will government dip its hands in the civil servants' collection basket to cushion the pension of the special group?

The civil servants generally earn peanuts but their retirement benefits are to be subjected to austerity measures, allegedly to reduce on government financial burden. However, top earners such as parliament and others have ring-fenced huge special pension benefits, which to Muruli Mukasa are not a burden to government. Muruli Mukasa, please clarify.
