{UAH} The call for Revival of Rwenzururu Kingdom.
As a human rights activist my blood turns green whenever I recall correctly the Inhuman treatment and the multiple Human rights violations that happened in the Kasese killings.
It's nearly 5 years after the regime crushing the famous Rwenzururu Kingdom on 16th November 2016. As said justice delayed is justice denied.
In the first place I don't have to remind government about what exactly happened. The memories of the mass killings are just fresh in our minds. Many of the detained former Royal guards have died in prison and others cannot be traced, this has left women as widows and many children as orphans.
I have never seen anywhere in the world where a king is denied access to his territory and subjects for a very long time. Early 2009 when Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi was denied from accessing his subjects in Kayunga, the Baganda mobilised and called off the ruthless acts by security agencies.
Today Omusinga Mumbere is in house arrest and not allowed to go beyond Kampala and Wakiso. Our cry as people of Kasese has been justice for the king and the entire lives that were lost during the Kasese killings and a fresh renovation of the Kingdom remains and restoration of the Kingdom status to that of other Traditional institutions as provided by the Constitution of uganda Article 246. The continued silence of government on the kingdom issues after the appointment of the Peace Building Team for Rwenzori region which completed their work has revoked our patience and we strongly demand for restoration of the liberty of Omusinga Mumbere Iremangoma.
All this shows how there is no equal treatment for traditional Institutions.
