{UAH} KASESE and POLITICS
KASESE and POLITICS
BY BAGHENDA WYCLIF
In the last one decade, we have seen than most what it takes to fight for what we believe in; the ideology we find comfortable. Kasese, my land has sacrificed for Uganda's politics beyond other people's expectations and the eagerness to sacrifice more seems to be growing the more!
We the people of Kasese with no doubt believe in the free transition of power from one freely elected leader to another. We don't believe in monarchical kind of leadership in a Democratic nation where power belongs to particular individuals forever!
FDC's Dr.Kizza Besigye has always won with the extreme percentages of 80%+ in the presidential race in Kasese. The rest of Uganda must stand out in the name of democracy to embrace the channels of transformation just like the people of Kasese have done!
The 2016 Kasese massacre is still fresh in our minds as if someone would think it just happened yesterday. Much as we still mourn our relatives and friends, Uganda and the international community as a whole have learnt from us that the pursuit of freedom and democracy has never been easy at all. Sometimes, people die in very rough and tough times just like they did in Kasese in 2016.
Human beings in the race of searching for democracy are like seeds; they die first in the soil and germinate later. When they die, their legacies become a pillar for the next generation to learn from.
African presidents must always know that Power belongs to the people; whereas you deny people the free will of embracing what they love, you are equally denying them what they are entitled to!
The United States of America and The United Kingdom stand out than most in embracing democracy because they believe in unity. The People of Kasese have always given a huge blow to whoever takes power as a personal project by embracing unity!
