{UAH} Kenya arrests 3 senators over contentious Bill

The arrest of these three Senators does not bode well for Kenya. The government of President Uhuru Kenyatta has developed a strange formula to allot the national budget. Senators from both sides of the political divide, have risen in opposition to the methodology, and were due to debate it some more this morning.

Fearful of how the Senators' deliberations would impact his plans, Uhuru sent police Detectives to arrest three outspoken legislators, whose contributions to the debate were seen to carry the most weight.

Now, the mere notion of police knocking at a Senator's house at 2:00 AM is an outrage. Arresting a Legislator in order to prevent him from getting into a Parliamentary debate, amounts to waging war against the very principles of democratic governance.

Kenya has quietly returned to the dark days of Jomo Kenyatta and Daniel arap Moi. During those days, MPs were routinely arrested -  in Parliament, on the way to or from Parliament, at their homes, and everywhere else - held for days with charge. A few ended up being detained for years, and would come out broken, in heart and body.
