After her shameless campaign to become VP, Stacey Abrams lands only two minutes of speaking time at the DNC

It may be time for fans of failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams to face up to the uncomfortable truth that she is just, well, a dud.
There is really no way around that. Even Democratic leadership seems to get it.
Abrams received barely two minutes of speaking time Tuesday evening for her one and only appearance at the 2020 Democratic National Convention. Considering her ruthless, hilariously ham-fisted, and failed campaign to strongarm Joe Biden into picking her as his running mate, the fact that Abrams landed no more than 124 seconds of convention speaking time is yet another sad chapter in a political career whose defining feature seems to be failure.
“This nation belongs to all of us,” she said. “And in every election, we choose how we will create a more perfect union — not by taking sides but by taking stock of where we are and what we need. This year’s choice could not be more clear. America faces a triple threat: a public health catastrophe, an economic collapse, and a reckoning with racial justice and inequality.”
Abrams added, “So, our choice is clear: a steady, experienced public servant who can lead us out of this crisis just like he’s done before or a man who only knows how to deny and distract — a leader who cares about our families or a president who only cares about himself. We know Joe Biden. America, we need Joe Biden.”
The failed gubernatorial candidate then encouraged viewers to text a campaign hotline.
“In a democracy, we do not elect saviors,” Abrams continued. “We cast our ballots for those who see our struggles and pledge to serve, who hear our dreams and work to make them real, who defend our way of life by protecting our right to vote. Faced with a president of cowardice, Joe Biden is a man of proven courage. He will restore our moral compass by confronting our challenges, not by hiding from them or undermining our elections to keep his job.”
She added, “In a time of voter suppression at home and authoritarians abroad, Joe Biden will be a champion for free and fair elections, for a public health system that keeps us safe, for an economy that we build back better than before, and for accountability and integrity in our system of justice. We stand with Joe Biden because this isn’t just about defeating Donald Trump. We are in this to win for America. So let’s get it done.”
That was it. That was the entirety of Abrams's message. All that politicking and exceptionally aggressive campaigning to land the No. 2 spot on the 2020 Democratic ticket, and the best she could manage was about 120 seconds of speaking time at the party’s convention.
Abrams cannot even sell her own party on her electability, let alone the state of Georgia. The fact that her brazenly desperate attempt to become vice president has ended with a brief and 100% forgettable convention appearance would be laugh-out-loud funny were it not so pitiful.
It seems like it is time now for Democratic voters and members of the press to come to grips with what party leadership seems to already understand about Abrams, which is that she can be a useful tool, going as far as to toss her some speaking time, but not useful enough for any real position of power and authority.
On Tuesday, Abrams used her tiny window of speaking time to encourage viewers to support Biden and his running mate, Sen. Kamala Harris of California. And that is likely Abrams’s last major appearance of any real importance for a long while.
