WHY BASAJJA MIVULE DESERVES TO GO TO THE COOLER PART OF HELL

This morning I have witnessed the ugly reality of Mr. Basajjamivule agreeing to work with Pres. Museveni albeit without joining the NRM.

I personally don't think it makes a difference whether he joins NRM or not. Working with M7 and joining NRM are one and the same.

However I am am not about to blame Basajjamivule. The only choice available for everyone now is Pres. Museveni despite how worthless and dangerous he is.

While Bobiwine was trying to build his political temple, he brought down a very formidable opposition led by Rtd. Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye. Bobiwine successfully neutralized Besigye's political flavour and almost all his supporters formed Bobiwine's support base.

Unfortunately, Besigye's shoes were too big for Bobiwine to fit in. Besigye's support that was formerly assertive turned into radical extremists ready to use all sorts of vulgar language, insults, character assassination and exposure to ridicule on anyone who seemed to have a divergent opinion from that of their cult leader, Bobiwine. This drove away many people and is still driving away others.

I must confess, I have admired Bobiwine since I got to know him. Surprisingly, I used to enjoy Bebecool's music more but I admired the person of Bobiwine. When he won the Kyaddondo seat, I knew that he deserved nothing less. I however didn't and don't think he is ready for presidency. I thought he would have made a good 2026 presidential candidate. This was and still is my opinion. I hope this time, I am allowed to hold it by the intolerant cult. But he decided to swing in too early, attacked Rt. Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye and destroyed his great legacy. He climbed to political fame and made the strongest opposition we have now.

Unfortunately his support base don't form an appealing company for us who have been brought up to detest vulgar language and obscenity. Another unfortunate thing, the only strong but not viable option on the opposition is Bobiwine. Personally, I am contemplating staying away from next year's election. Bobiwine is not a choice. I also think I would rather remain with M7 for another term other than betraying my conscience by looking away from the imminent disaster.

The Bobiwine fan base believes that whoever asks them not to be vulgar is working for the rogue regime. They make it appear so and tell the world that you received some money from the regime agents. There's nothing further from the truth than this although some may have been. They threaten us with death and assault.

Was there anything wrong with Mabirizi probing into the discrepancies in Bobiwine's academic records? I don't think so.

Fortunately, Bobiwine has given a not so good explanation but that allows some of us to give a benefit of the doubt regarding the lack of integrity he is being accused of. After the evidence has been presented to court and court is of the opinion that he is guilty, may be we shall rethink our position.

Be that as it may, it was and still is ultimately wrong for NUP supporters to continue attacking whoever they perceive not to support Bobiwine or any of his ideas. Bobiwine must guarantee free speech to all of us.

If I am met with two ugly choices; one for Bobiwine and Museveni! Bobiwine will never be an option unless he can guarantee that we have free and safe speech in our country. At least I am sure Pres. M7 will guarantee that.

Basajjamivule has finally swallowed his pride and chosen to work with the rogue regime because Pres. M7 is a better option considering the two devils.(at least according to many)

I will forever blame this on Bobiwine's naivety and impatience. The opposition is completely shattered and we are now being asked to select an option between the devil we know and the devil we don't know.

This is not to say that I am not disappointed with Basajjamivule. I am very disappointed but I understand his ordeal.

Be that as it may; somehow we need a true and sane opposition otherwise I will never cross to a group as vulgar as NUP.

Mr Basajjamivule,

We shall miss you Basajjamivule on this part of the political divide. If I don't listen to you again; please understand. I can't stand to hear a tone of change in the same voice. It will be embarrassing for me to hear you praise the government you have convinced us is very bad. I can't stand that. I hope God will forgive you too.

You deserve to go to hell, but to a cooler part of it.
