{UAH} Don Wanyama: Besigye will return in 2026
Dr.Kizza Basigye's exit from active politics has fronted many opnions on the political table. Some think he has gone for good and others think he may return soon. Among those who think he may return is Don Wanyama the senior presidential secretary. In his line, he thinks that Besigye Besigye just left NUP's Robert Kyagulanyi to taste the bitterness of politics but will be back in 2026 elections.
"Besigye is just withdrawing for now to allow the Kyagulanyis burn their fingers and then come in 2026…,"Don said.
Wanyama agreed with Joel Ssenyonyi, the NUP spokesman that Besigye has contributed to the growth of Uganda's political system but added that NUP is hoping to reap from Besigye's exit.
" I agree with Joel , we can't down play the contribution of Dr.Besigye in the growth of our political system…," He said.
He however thinks that NUP does not have structures and said that the party is hot air with good speakers like Ssenyonyi who articulate points whenever given platforms but does not have strong grounds.
"NUP is hot air. They have no structures, they have good speakers like Joel who can come and articulate points here though…,"He said.
Such was seen in the early 1980s when Dr. Milton Obote came back for the second time having spent a number of years away, following the capture of power by Amin Dada. Could this happen to Besigye? He seems too fade up by the system and he thinks that no one can win Museveni on the ballot. Does his plan B extend to 2026? If this is the case, then Don Wanyama's argument needs a keen ear.
