FACTS ABOUT RUKUTANA SHOOTING INCIDENT

On 4th September 2020 the registers for all Rubaare Sub-county villages/polling centres were not produced and the NRM district Electoral commission postponed voting in Rubaare Sub-county to Saturday 5th September 2020. Hon. Naome Kabasharira team that was supervising Kagugu parish traveling in a Toyota Rav 4 intercepted Rev. Rubambura and Rukutana's son giving money to voters. Rukutana's son called his father Rukutana who came driving in the Ministry of Gender LandCruiser Vehicle and four other vehicles, one vehicle a Toyota Premio was used to block the road in front of the toyota RAV 4 car in which Naome's team was moving, Rukutana and his body guards and two women came out, Rukutana grabbed a gun from his body guard, attempted to shoot but it failed, he got another gun, and at this point the team leader Dan Rweiburingi came out of their car in effort to cool him down only to be shot at and badly beaten by Rukutana and his group. They also shot and vandalised the car. Juma one of the other RAV4 occupants was also brutally assaulted. Two other occupants of the car fled with minor injuries. Rukutana fearing other oncoming road users embraked in his car and the other four vehicles and sped off towards Kashanda trading centre at one of the polling centres was leaving Dan Rweiburingi and Juma uncautious and for dead. Dan Rweiburingi and Juma were rescued and by a car sent Naome's team from the scene and taken to Dr. Karuhangas Clinic in Rubaare Trading Centre
