{UAH} ‘Nudity Is A weapon Of The Poor, Men With Guns Can’t Shoot At Nipples’ – Dr. Stella Nyanzi

By Isaac Norman Mwambazi

Former Makerere University research don Dr. Stella Nyanzi is undoubtedly one of Uganda's top political activists, and President Yoweri Museveni's arch critics.

Dr Nyanzi has staged numerous protests against a range of issues most of which are political, but it is her choice of the way she protests that has raised eyebrows among Ugandans and those beyond borders.

Dr Stella Nyanzi has stripped on several occasions, first during her outburst with Makerere Institute of Social Research (MISR) Director Dr. Mahmood Mamdani in 2016 when he sanctioned her removal from office at one of Africa's most prestigious universities.

Since then, the controversial academician has used nudity to express her dissatisfaction over number of issues, and has explained why of all the available options, she chose nudity.

"I use nudity because it's a weapon of the weak and the poor. The cost to pay is called shame, but I think I'm not ashamed of my body," Dr Nyanzi told journalists in an interview.

She added, "It's a beautiful big mama body, and I am glad to deploy it for war. When I put my nipples on the frontline, I learnt they fight harder than any bazookas. Men don't know how to deal with that. Men with guns can't shoot at nipples."

Dr Stella Nyanzi is contesting for the Kampala Woman Member of Parliament in the forthcoming 2021 general elections and hopes to use her position, once elected, to better service delivery in Kampala, specifically improving women's livelihoods.
