{UAH} About 200 NUP MP contestants failed nominations due to lack of funds
About 200 candidates from the National Unity Platform across the country were not nominated due to lack of funds, the Party secretary general David Lewis Rubongoya has said.
--
-- A week towards nominations, the National Unity Platform President Robert Kyagulanyi cried out to the country, soliciting for funds to help provide resources for NUP candidates ahead of nomination. More than Ugx 100 million was collected.
Each candidate was supposed to pay Ugx 3 million as nomination fees each candidate pays to the commission to contest as a member of Parliament.
Speaking at a press briefing at the party head quarters on Tuesday morning, the secretary general David Lewis Rubongoya says, of the 437 nominated candidates, close to 200 were not nominated due to inconvenience from security organs and lack of money.
