{UAH} Does police over deployment in markets scare traders and customers?

Simon

What is funny is if you are in wandegeya, you will never notice that anything happened anywhere near there.i passed those ends going to martin road in old Kampala, it was brief and over before anyone noticed. Only to see it on the news.

Allan,

Again? Traders in Kisekka Market protest police over deployment in the market alleging it scares customers. The traders are not protesting police deployment but rather  over deployment. Who would not be scared? The high presence of uniformed and gun wielding police officers tossing teargas canisters as they please is a risk in itself- it means business is not as usual, and which customers can freely spend time and money in such environment? Maybe the traders are indeed right.

If the security personnel are better in everything, why not make police and army business people to specialize in selling in markets so that the issue of "wrong elements" in such places is addressed? What is certainly clear though, is that over deployment doesn't address the issue as the "wrong elements" can take cover or quietly relocate to other areas to buy time since police over presence will not be forever, they will resurface after they leave.

This is where CID and SB departments should be seriously reactivated  but  not uniformed and gun yielding officers.

When will these people get it right?
