{UAH} Museveni first vied for a political office in 1970

Truth is Museveni first vied for a political office in 1970, contesting against John Babiiha in what was then called North East Ankole constituency.

John Babiiha was the Vice President of Uganda at the time Museveni sought to challenge him before President Idi Amin overthrew Milton Obote government.

At the time, the format of the election was that a candidate contested and represented four constituencies ie your home constituency and three others. It was called Three Plus one.

The whole idea was an Mp would stand in all regions of Uganda to represent Ugandans. You would have a home constituency and three others from other regions you would have to represent.

So Museveni chose to contest against Vice President John Babiiha in elections Obote government planned 1971.

That was under President Milton Obote Government which Museveni demonized.

Today, 50yrs later when Museveni is the dictator, an Mp represents one Sub County where each parish is subdivided into a sub county.

On reflections, Sembabule mess is exactly what we have become as a country under Museveni--nepostic, cheats, autocratic, militant and deeply divided.

Museveni's brother was contesting against Museveni's inlaw Sam Kuteesa's daughter to represent one of the smallest constituencies in Uganda.

And while the last time Museveni contested as MP (and head of UPM), he got 3% of a vote in Mbarara North, a small district like Sembabule, curved out of Masaka in 1997, now has four MPs.

Mbarara North where Museveni contested in 1980 as MP, now has about 20Mps. Combined, they take like a a billion pee month.

Then you hear mbu progress, which progress when voters in Sembabule are wearing Rugabire (shoes cut from car tyres) and those who impoverish them are cruising brand new Landcruisers?

As you celebrate the winner in Sembabule, remember the destruction Museveni has created to divide the country and his obsession for revenge.

Museveni who could not cheat in Mbarara North because he had no power and couldn't buy voters and money is now an expert at using force and bribery because he has guns and theTreasury.

Kuteesa defeated Museveni because he was richer, Museveni lost because he was poor and broke.

Today, Museveni deploys his former SFC Commander as Deputy IGP to oversee an election and NRM EC Chairperson Tanga Odoi he personally appoints and fires at will to manage the exercise.

You expect it to be free and fair? Then after the NRM chaos, you expect Museveni who has organised six RIGGED Elections to organize a seventh free and fair election?
