{UAH} NRM unveils anti-Bobi Wine militia group ahead of polls – Ekyooto Uganda

The ruling National Resistance Movement party has this Friday launched a militia group comprising of 200 men and women who have been assigned to tame and combat 'rowdy' supporters of presidential candidate Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert alias Bobi Wine.

The militia group is currently undergoing training at Nakivubo blue primary school in Kampala. Their leader Lwanga Charles alias Master Lee who is a trained boxer says they are to work hand in hand with the police during times of NUP led protests. "We will help the Kampala Metropolitan police in times of protests by Bobi Wine and his supporters," Master Lee says. "We are inspired by the rising pressure mounted by NUP supporters who think the city is theirs. We are ready to deal with them," Master Lee warns.
Master Lee's pro-NRM militia comes days after the Uganda police has in its unprecedented working calendar advertised a much larger recruitment number. A few days ago, the police spokesperson Fred Enanga told the public that they were to recruit over 55,000 police constables purposely to contain 'violence' during the electoral season.

It is important to note that whenever elections loom, the NRM party creates militia groups to battle opposition supporters. In the 2016 general elections, Maj. Kakooza Mutale of the Kalangala Action plan created a militia group that was hired by the then IGP, Gen. Kale Kayihura. The group was incorporated into the Crime Preventers Unit which gained prominence for flogging civilians during the elections.
