It seems they use same script to derail democracy yet they speak so highly about it. Surely, how can a country like Tanzania return only 2 MPs for the Opposition?
Another observation one can make is that by losing interest in elections, the electorate has abdicated their role to determine their fate and left it "to whom it may concern," which is playing the regime's scheme. They focus on what handouts they can get or look for those who can buy their votes. Our people have no idea what a protest vote means or what sacrifice is required to achieve precious things.
In most cases, the opposition is also preoccupied with winning for personal gains that is why even constituencies where they have chance to beat the regime, they return many candidates FDC, DP, ANT, NUP all eyes focused on the benefits from Parliament but not for country.
Same with the regime that came with vigour and criticizing past regimes but end doing same or worse than those they demonize which shows that they are serving their personal interests but try to legitimize their actions by scaring those they rule.
In the end the electorate, the Opposition and the regime are all the same, placing personal interest ahead of the national interest.

President JP Magufuli has been declared winner of the just concluded election in Tanzania. He polled 12.5m votes compared to 1.9m votes scored by his closest rival Tundu Lissu. Roughly 15m voters (50%) who had registered to vote did not turn up.
The opposition only managed to win 2 out of 393 parliamentary seats available. Ms Aida Khenan of CHADEMA party won the Nkasi North Constituency while the Civic United Front (CUF) won another constituency in the distant island of Pemba.
