{UAH} A friend just told me Trump wants to get rid of preexisting conditions for health care. Is this true? And if not how was this disseminated?

The Affordable Care Act banned insurance companies from refusing coverage because of preexisting conditions, or charging higher premiums because of them. That has been the law for ten years now.

Trump's DOG - Sorry, DOJ, has been in court even this year, during the pandemic, trying to get the whole of the ACA repealed, which would eliminate that protection.

The only he has offered is an executive order protecting patients with preexisting conditions, but private insurance companies don't have to follow Executive Orders. They can literally laugh at him, tell him, "You gotta be kidding!" and cut off people's insurance as though that executive order was a Chance card in a game of monopoly. The only insurance groups who are required to follow his executive orders are federal insurance, such as the VA and Medicare, and they have never cut people off for preexisting conditions, or other programs like Black Lung and ESRD, which are actually specifically for those preexisting conditions.

So, yes, Trump is definitely still trying to allow insurance companies to drop coverage for people with preexisting conditions, in the middle of a pandemic during which we know that about 20% of the country has so far developed preexisting conditions that did not even exist last year.
