{UAH} *MY EXPERIENCE WITH COVID19*

*MY EXPERIENCE WITH COVID19*
To start with, being a politician and in this campaign season I get myself self meeting so many people from all walks of life and as such it becomes difficult to trace my contacts as the case was!
Towards the end of October I begun feeling flu and dry throat with loss of appetite and shortness of breath. I never took it seriously for about 3 days!
Consequently, my body grew weaker the days that followed which prompted me to get a thorough medical check which gave me a clean sheet of health. But I deterioratingly felt bad with general body weakness setting in. I asked my wife to get me anti malarial drugs but no change was realised.

I eventually called my family Dr, Dr Sebbi of Sebbi hospital in Nansana,to make an appointment with him if he was at his facility. He asked me how I felt and described to him my status. Oh hearing the symptoms, he quickly advised me to get a COVID19 test done. He recommended Makerere university hospital. At a cost of 200k I had the test done ✅.
As I was waiting for results in the next 24hrs he advised me to take paracetamol oba panadol.
Results surely came out positive!
I was shocked but not frightened. I called Dr Sebbi and informed him about the results.
He prescribed for me drugs that I had to buy to manage the condition and emphasized that I should keep my mask on. I double checked the prescription with my OG Dr friend.. Dr Nuriat who also made the same prescription for treatment.
My self isolation started but at home!
My wife who is not a professional Dr is the only Dr I had at home ensuring that the prescriptions are adhered to. She the herbs as described in that video I shared above I guess, I steamed and drunk the contents.
I went back to retest after 10 days but the results remained positive!
Dr Sebbi advised me to continue on one of the earlier drugs for the next 7 days with vitamin C supplements in addition to fruits, juices, hot drinks which's had become part of my daily routine. I religiously took the medication and after the additional 7 days, I did a 3rd test and this time round it was negative!

I felt a very big relief. I had take off another week before starting on my campaigns again.

My take is that if stigmatization is totally stopped and health workers don't portray COVID19 as a deadly monster, we can ably manage the pandemic within our homes especially that we don't have sufficient and adequate medical facilities.
Making testing for COVID19 as affordable and easily accessible to all Ugandans would simplify the management once people get to know that they are sick.

BTW SOPs are effective when there are sick people because they won't be useful if none of you sick meaning we can live with caution a normal life with COVID19.
Every member of my household had to take the same treatment as I was doing just in case any got infected.

That's my brief story on my encounter with the dreaded COVID19!
