{UAH} Police loyalty to brutal regime helps NRM net zeros in a serial order in Kasese (and elsewhere)....
The world through leading media connections is very carefully following the presidential campaigns actually going on in Uganda. There is much attention centred on all candidates including the twin individuals : Museveni the incumbent and his principal rival Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine. All serious pronostics coming out of the field study tend to point to a large victory already almost registered by Kyagulanyi whose crowds are vast beyond imagination and who in addition profits from the good ratings as collected from the statements some in the crowds utter before the cameramen and media interviewers. So the key actors are the candidates, their crowds, the accompanying media personnel and, of course the security personnel on spot. All observations are one and the same to state how Kyagulanyi has been a hero in Kasese. The much biased security forces, loyal to Museveni and his regime, already darkened by the recent riots that resulted in the killings of many youths and in brutal arrests and detention, were sinisterly seen in big action to mar Kyagulanyi's programme by all means available to their somewhat dirty conduct! Yes, the behaviour of the security forces and of the police in particular was shocking to all viewers and listeners who were carefully following the campaign trails. One would wonder why on earth the police and other security organs should all the time throw tear gas canisters to the innocent crowds, and why they should also open fire to disperse the lining crowds all along the routes! It was indeed more awfully appalling to see those images of the injured and of the young boy who was shot dead by the police! Why all this very uncivilized kind of fuss? The danger we have in the country is that of a politicized security personnel who look to the only Museveni as their real dad! This is the true genesis lying at the base of real insecurity facing the humble civilian population of Uganda. These policemen and what have you were indeed excited by the very triumphant welcome
-- the people of Kasese, Butiti, Kyegegwa, Bundibugyo were today extending to Kyagulanyi, and also still mindful of the scenes that welcomed him yesterday in Fort Portal! If people now like to listen to Kyagulanyi it's their liberty to do so, after all these being political campaigns every individual Ugandan is at liberty to line up and cheer the candidate of one's choice. They have seen and listened to Museveni for 35 years and now they want to see and listen to another person or to other persons. The crowds are very wise and very intelligent in that they leave time and space to prospective candidates. The security organs, frantically bigotted, in applying brutality in a humble situation like that of a peacefully cheering assembly that gathers the young, the old, the poor, the humble, etc...just do fall in the snares of shame and humiliation. After all what they did in Kasese will in no way at all help Museveni improve on his lot in that region.By way of this very dirty behaviour portrayed by the security organs Museveni / NRM / and the regime have come out sombered in Kasese! Very unfortunate for them! And it's also rather very sad for Uganda, a place whose beauty has been so well exhibited by the coverages but which now this police brutality is systematically putting in a most unfortunate position!
On the other hand, Ugandans should feel proud of Kyagulanyi and other very sensible candidates who have all along preached peace and an elaborate mutual understanding. These are the true challenges one can address to indiscipline and they are principally a Ugandan national element promoting brotherhood and patriotism.
