{UAH} We need a dialogue

By Lineaker Kigunddu

We need a dialogue

Death looks normal when its not a person close to you who has gone but you forget that the next day it may be you or some one close to you. Like many others, at first i had thought that the only way to get rid of Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is by force because he cannot allow to be defeated by an election. However i have a second thought now.

We all agree and know that may be Museveni is not willing to leave power. However, i feel his leaving shouldn't cost lives of many Innocent Ugandans or even the guilty ones especially when his coming too took lives of over 800,000 people and perhaps his stay in power has also led to death of many others. As you look at things now, Museveni has already shown you that he is ready to retain Power at any cost. ( You saw the armed people shooting at civilians).

Today I had a long discussion with someone influencial in the corridors of power and he told me something that the greatest fear of this regime is that many want to overthrow it by force and secondly embarass them by grabbing away their fortune that they have been able to accumulate and also imprison them, send them to exile or even massacre them. This is absolutely true because i have heard many saying "we shall occupy those houses in Kololo, they are going to regret, they won't survive" , etc etc. These are purely words of hatred that put fear in the hearts of those in power and therefore cannt surrender power to a hostile group  threatening their lives and property.

I agree that people in government have looted alot but what they have looted is not more important than our lives. Even if we leave them to remain with whatever they have looted, we lose nothing after all we have lived even when they are looting.

On this background I there ask you i mean all of you Ugandans regardless of the party you belong to  support the idea of this country have a dialogue and a reconciliation. In this, First we need to ask government to stop the coming useless election which is going to lead to the deaths of the many. After this happening all the the relevant stake holders ( politicians, cultural leaders, religious leader, and some others)  in society to help this nation sit down on a round table with Museveni and discuss with him a way forward on how he can leave power peacefully with out any form of bloodshed.

In this, we can decide to let him leave power in peace so that he is not imprisoned, not taken to ICC, non of his family members, friends and relatives hurt, non of his properties touched and may be also retain his security detail for his safety. I think this idea was used in DRC and it worked.  I  believe that Museveni and his people fear to leave power  because of what may happen to them after leaving Power.

The bad days may result into Uganda becoming another Somalia or Lybia and that's not the kind of Uganda we want. Lets all take Museveni as a bad debt and we move on by seducing him to leave power and uphold to our promises to him rather than using force. We all want to see a new Uganda with a new president but some of us won't see it if we resort to use of force.

Yes, we can use force to take Museveni out of power but it will be so costly in terms of lives and property which is not worth it. I therefore ask all of you to support the initiative of stopping the election that Will lead us to the bad days and also support the idea of the dialogue. Hon Charles Rwomushana, Hon Mp Nambooze Bakireke Betty are one of those that i have heard publicaly supporting the idea of a dialogue. We can use them and support them to push this agenda ahead.

If it requires getting signatures , i believe it is possible. Lets try the dialogue first as Plan A and the election should only be secondary.

Share to many others if you think this holds water.
