{UAH} BESIGYE 'S NTV INTERVIEW

Good morning.  Dr Kiiza Besigye,  former FDC Boss was interviewed this morning on NTV Uganda,  on many issues.  

On Museveni he said the man is drunk with power so much that he can never contemplate handing over power to another person in a clear transition plan,  but perhaps to one in his kinship caste.  He said that it is a lie that Museveni is staying in power to liberate  Uganda or to liberate Africa.  A true Pan Africanist does not prevent meaningful democratic practice. which Museveni is doing. Dr. Besigye remarked that Museveni, having risen to power on a heap of half a million skulls, cannot be expected to respect human life.  He is ready to kill as many people as he wants for the sake of power, says Dr.  Kiiza Besigye.  

On Covid 19 Besigye wondered how right thinking people would say the Government of Uganda has managed the disease well when 35 years in power there is no reserve of anything: fuel, food, medicines, etc.   In the view of Dr Kiiza Besigye,  President Museveni is only interested in having power so that he and his elk can own and consume everything at the expense of Ugandans and Uganda. 

On elections,  Besigye says Museveni is terrified by elections. The thought of losing an election throws Museveni into feats. He will do anything, including unleashing police and the military onto people, to ensure there is so much fear that they are thrown in disarray, making it easy for him to abuse the electoral processes. Museveni is in charge of the electoral processes,  not the Electoral Commission, says Besigye. Besigye reminded us how former Electoral Commission Chairman,  Aziz Kasujja, wrote to Museveni to let him know that the police and military had disorganised the elections. Museveni ignored the letter.  And today the military and police are disorganising the electoral processes even more in favour of Mr. Museveni. 

On the dignity and freedom of Ugandans,  Besigye said there is Apartheid in Uganda as was the case in South Africa. He said it is Ugandans,  not anyone else,  to liberate themselves country and themslves. 

On justice,  he  said he was disturbed  by the inability of the Judiciary to administer justice. He said Museveni uses the DPP to "kill" cases of gross human rights abuse.  According to Besigye Mr Museveni is at the centre of gross human rights abuses,  and that is why they (Besigye and Group)  took him to the ICC of which Uganda is a member. 

On electoral observation by foreign missions,  Besigye says most observers are just tourists.  Whereas the electoral process is not an event the observers only observe the actual election, yet they should observe the whole process,  including the campaigns. He said the worst and most ineffective elections observers are those who come from African Union.
