{UAH} Congratulations Peter Walubiri!

Opposition party Uganda People's Congress (UPC) has elected prominent constitutional lawyer, Peter Walubiri, president to replace Lira Municipality MP, Jimmy Akena.

Mr. Walubiri garnered 278 delegates' votes, beating his closest rival, Mr. Joseph Ochieno Pinytek, with seven votes after he got 271 delegates 'votes from 98 districts that participated in the exercise.

Other candidates who contested for the party's top seat were Dr. Dickson Opul who polled 34 votes and Dr. Dan Okello who managed a paltry 10 votes out of the 593 votes cast.

The party electoral commission chairperson, Mr. Hamza Sewankambo, declared Mr. Walubiri the duly elected UPC president having scored the highest number of votes
