{UAH} EXCLUSIVE! How first son Kainerugaba led to Sabiiti’s firing from Police
Sabiiti Muzeyi's sacking from Uganda Police was instigated by first son and Presidential Advisor on Security Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Xclusive UG can reliably reveal.
Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba
Maj. Gen. Sabiiti was earlier this week sacked from Police where he served as the Deputy Inspector of Police (DIGP) for the last few years.
DIGP Muzeeyi Sabiiti addresses the press
In his message, Commander in Chief (CiC) General Yoweri Museveni sent Sabiiti back to UPDF HQ (katebe) as he awaits fresh deployment. That might not come in the near future if Museveni follows his son Kainerugaba's damning report on Sabiiti to the dot.
Apparently Sabiiti was put in police to use police networks to gather civilian information especially from opposition groups and be able to nip their activities in the bad. It's said, Muhoozi has been sending Sabiiti intelligence reports on the plans of the opposition especially presidential candidate Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi and his NUP political party, but Sabiiti would go slow, or ignore following them.
This did not go well with Gen. Muhoozi.
His (Sabiiti) fate was sealed when during an intelligence meeting to assess the recent riots, and find out why they happened, and caught police off guard, it was revealed that Muhoozi had sent Sabiiti intelligence reports of how NUP, with the help of Gen (retired) Henry Tumukunde- another presidential hopeful- had planned for massive riots, and were waiting for a spark moment to set everything in motion, the reason Hon. Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine was always provoking police to set off the riots which they hoped would be a kind of
Sudan/Arab spring uprising.
However Muhoozi was shocked by Sabiiti not following and planning on how to quell the riots, and totally failing to handle the situation. It must be noted that in his Sabiiti sack letter, Museveni said any soldier who failed on cracking lawlessness would be sent back to UPDF.
It took the intervention of Muhoozi ,who deployed Special Forces in police, to end the riots and quickly arrest all the ring leaders and planners within a week.
It is said that the former good friends, Muhoozi and Sabiiti were nolonger on talking terms by the time the president relieved him of the Deputy IGP position. Its said NUP had also heavily infiltrated police and would get prior information on what they were planning, the reason Bobi Wine used to beat security and go to places they would not expect or want him to be in.All these flaws were blamed on Sabiiti.
In short Muhoozi wanted police to use a hardline stance like the one former IGP Gen. Kale Kayihura used on opposition, but Sabiiti wanted it handled softly and in most cases never wanted to do things without first consulting the IGP, a soft guy as well.
It's said after the riots, Muhoozi as adviser on intelligence, presented a detailed plan of how the riots were planned and also gave what the police, and other intelligence agencies should have done to stop and quell the riots, and prevent any future riots.
It was after reading that report, that the president decided to sack Sabiiti and reappoint his son to head SFC, which is slowly and covertly taking over overall security of the country.
It's this major reason Museveni deployed the no nonsense Maj. Gen. Paul Lokech, to bring militancy in police, and make it feared the way the public fears red top.
And to quell any planned demonstrations after elections in January next year.
