Govt Extends Face Technologies Contract for Issuing Driving Permits

The government has extended the face technologies contract for issuing driving permits to Ugandans as the new company gets set to begin.

According to Minister of works and Transport Gen. Katumba Wamala, face technologies contract expired in may this year and was supposed to hand over to a new company Uganda Security Printing Company (USPC).

However, Katumba told Nettech Media yesterday that the contract was extended to February 2021 in order not to create a gap between the transition believing that the new company will be ready by February to take over.

"USPC was not able to have all its equipment installed by that time because of COVID 19. There were limitations in the institutions of travel, so the technical people in the ministry could not travel to check on the machinery." He explained.

Katumba implored the public to embrace USPC that it will produce a superior product compared to face technologies.
