{UAH} I AM NOT PLEASED WITH THE DEFECTION OF NUP NORTHERN YOUTH TO NRM

I AM NOT PLEASED WITH THE DEFECTION OF NUP NORTHERN YOUTH TO NRM

Much as we are in the multiparty dispensation ,I do not support the ideas of youths defecting anyhow so that they can gain.You may  say ,I am against NRM .No, I am neutral because it is an issue of mind over matter ,if you don't mind,it doesn't matter .You can be independent , opposition or NRM still remain relevant to your pursuit .We have seen so many leaders doing wonderful jobs for their community even when they are independent. I have seen several of these youths  claim , it's their freedom and right  to choose or change to any political party  they so wish.I must ,they lack focus and particularity .I know there are reasons why they are defecting to ruling party like lack  of money , unemployment and quick gains ,tribalism from NUP headquarter , Kampala as they claim.

Yes,it would have been better if these youths had consistently voiced their concerns to the responsible leaders of the party amidst intimidation and other challenges  .It would have been better if these youths had devised means that make them highly valued than defecting for mere 5m or 10m which can not sustain them for a year when their reputation is damaged forever unlike other parts of Uganda where youths are given billions of shillings.

 What  we are seeing from these youths is ideological disorientation .Any struggle must be deeply rooted in building strong foundation, credibility, integrity,consistency , reputation and determination to lead which can be used as future reference and these are now dented .For examples,in northern Uganda there are top five key issues that must be addressed;- poverty , unemployment , environmental degradation , education and health  .This must be the direction these youths should take by advocating for poverty alleviation , employment opportunity , quality education and health and I have seen non addressing these pertinent challenges .

Coupled with the above ,it pains me most when  people of northern Uganda have always been known and praised to vote issues.Now ,it is no more because of these defections.

I want also to remind ourselves ;

What would have happened if Norbert Mao had been changing from one political party to another ? History has demonstrated to us that ,he has been very consistent , determined with high integrity from MUK ,Mp, chairperson Gulu district and now ,DP president general .It did not come from changing to UPC to NRM.

What would have happened if Hon.Beatrice Anywar,Hon.Odonga Otto ,Hon .Reagan Okumu ,Hon.Micheal Ocula and Hon.Ogenga Latigo and other had been bending to the regime in their early times of their political journey?

They stood for Acholi when in IDPs, against injustice ,imbalances and high discrimination at that time .They did their best until after 10 or 15 years,when others have started getting devoured which is not bad unlike the current youth leaders of just one year .

Be that as it may ,the youths must learn to be consistent,keep their integrity , reputation , determination so that they can be trusted for anything but not this business of defecting in the name of democracy and money .There is more in future than now .
