{UAH} Whoever orders the use of tear gas and bullets in campaigns is a very unpatriotic person!
- What happened in Kayunga and in Jinja yesterday where security forces behaved very rudely against Kyagulanyi's campaign team was something that puzzles the norms related to democracy as portrayed in a free and fair election. The country is heading to a national poll in just less than two months' time and yet all seems far from ready as violence, created by the security forces continues to mar notably Kyagulanyi's campaigns. The other day in Nakifuma where Oweekitiibwa Hon Mr Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi conducted a very successfully popular campaign police, angered by the huge size of the crowd, had to kill five persons! Yesterday many were injured with live bullets and tear gas in Kayunga and Jinja where Kyagulanyi and Oweekitiibwa Francis Butebi Zaake narrowly escaped death when ter gas canister and a bullet missed their targets...and Kyagulanyi's car was damaged by the gun shots which burst one of its tyres. Kyagulanyi had to cancel the meetings he was going to address in Jinja and Kamuli and had therefore to return to Kampala to prepare for an appointment with the Electoral Commission who will inform the public whether they still exist as the full authority managing the electoral process including campaigns or as a fake group with all its powers taken over by the security forces. A very good idea by the young politician who in the same swoop would love to see order and discipline enter into the field to ensure the end to that very silly violence which has cost lives, brought injuries to many, etc...People killed for nothing! And fellow citizens hospitalized to nurse their wounds! Nobody has ever seen this happen in Uganda to such a great extent! Who is carrying out all this violence? Is it true that mercenaries have been recruited to assassinate Ugandans during these campaigns? If so, this is both unlawful and strongly unconstitutional! If such foreigners are truly present and causing havoc in our land the people themselves have a right to revolt and throw them away! It's appalling to see the presence of soldiers everywhere whenever Kyagulanyi's campaign trail moves and to witness the throwing of tear gas canisters in the crowds ( and in the neighbouring homes)! What's the use of tear gassing innocent citizens? Kyagulanyi's meetings have never been violent and the person himself doesn't believe in violence. Then why is this violence openly initiated by the security forces? I think the answer may be found in the very many observations carried out by all neutral media coverages and naturally witnessed by all people around : Kyagulanyi is too strong for any other candidate in the race, Museveni himself included! In all the areas where Kyagulanyi has conducted his campaigns his People Power group is coming out top dog. And now we've all noticed how Nazigo, Kayunga in Bugerere county have now strongly turned to Kyagulanyi, just as Buikwe, Nakifuma, and Mukono where Kyagulanyi was the other day. One can see the convoys and the throngs of people lining along the roads and how they madly cheer Kyagulanyi! Is placing trust in a young progressive politician with ideas to mend for what others have failed to do in so many years a crime that calls for punishing the innocent people? We all know how things like land grabbing, corruption and the embezzlement of vast sums of money, the neglect of crucially important sectors in the country's life, and the absence of a clear programme to advance the youth, etc... are many of the real aches that bite very deeply into the nerves of the population.People aren't at all happy with the way things are done! And they expect nothing new from a group of old people who have been there for dozens of years. their hopes are now pinned on a youthful group whose individuals have successfully, through thick and thin, made it to the very top echelons of life. When time to go comes, it's better to accept it with humility. This philosophy of a shoot and kill order which has been received with shock and horror all over the entire globe is irresponsible and is entangled in a series of very many bad risks..... Okay, let's now wait for the outcome of Kyagulanyi's meeting with the EC.And let's all hope for the best out of it so that the campaigns from now on take to a new dimension that exhibits correctness as required and expected within a civilized society.
- May the Good Lord bless the souls of the deceased fellow nationals and may he come closer to the plight of the wounded and may he grant an elan of comfort to the bereaved! Let there be finally peace in the entire electoral exercise so that for the first time in our country's history we stand to witness a real peaceful change of regime without bloodshed! The blood that has so far been shed in these campaigns is already so much!
