{UAH} I HAVE QUIT THE USELESS UGANDA POLITICS
I HAVE QUIT THE USELESS UGANDA POLITICS
By Andrew SegawaGood bye Politics (For a While)
I promised to write my last political post in a while (please note the words "in a while"). I have seen a number of elections but the last one has had a big deal of misguided excitement. We have seen more people turning to vulgarity and abusive language.
Well, this is what I have learnt. We have all been tricked by M7 and as i talk, M7 has put us where he wants us to be. He has made it look like NUP has won the elections after defeating FDC and FDC are also ready to laugh at Bobi Wine who failed to garner meaningful support outside Buganda.
When M7 was announced winner, Mukono had two celebrations at the same time. Somewhere celebrating the win of M7 and others were celebrating the win of Abdullah Kiwanuka against Kibuule. No one cared much about the win of M7.
Since the beginning of elections, I was wondering why the media was over promoting Bobi and the Umbrella, I got the answer . M7 has played us all. I was at Mukono tally center representing my Candidate when Kibuule came in to overturn the victory of Kiwanuka Abdullar, he had all powers to do it as he did last time.
Some people have been claiming that Kibuule could not overturn the victory since the votes were too many, I just laugh at such people. Those are the same people who could write on the FB walls how they had overpowered the army everytime Bobi made a procession in a town or city. They could write how the army had been deployed to stop Bobi but they overpowered it with "People Power". Even when I tried to convince them that M7 allowed Bobi to campaign in those cities and towns, they refused to listen. Actually, if M7 had wanted to stop Bobi from making a procession in any of the cities or towns, he could have done it, but he made it look like Bobi was being stopped but people over powered. My friends, no single town in Uganda can over power just one military barracks. None
Back to the Kibuule story, I can assure you, even if Kibuule had got zero votes, he could have secured a win if M7 wanted it to happen. But as Kibuule tried to do so, he got a call from above and the army was withdrawn from him. Thats when he gave up. The same happened to Kiwanuka Sekkandi, Amelia, Haruna Kasolo and others, the order was simple, dont disturb the NUP wins.
But why did M7 let his ministers down and what does he plan next? Well, in history, there is what we call the Buganda Appeasement policy where the whites did some things to Appease Baganda. Its what M7 did this time, Buganda is happy they have voted against M7 and their MP have gone through. However, this is what M7 is going to do next, He will give some NUP Mps ministerial posts which will make them effectively cross to NRM and he will also remove others through elections petitions. By the time that is done, the threat for riots will be long gone.
By the way, we are experiencing one of the most peaceful "after elections" period. All this is attributed to the Buganda Appeasement policy. This time, many will agree with me that M7 did not rig in Buganda, he left it as it is. Sadly, he made alot of gain. You cant imagine, on one polling station ground in Kampala, Bobi got 1600 and M7 got 700. That was a big M7 gain, the same happened in Mukono, where Bobi was getting 300, M7 was getting 100. That would mean that for any 3 Bobi fans in Mukono, there is one for M7. During Besigye era, M7 could not get those votes in Mukono or Kampala, he could just rig them.
What M7 has done this time is to make it look like the Opposition is only in Buganda and they are trying to show that Baganda are tribalists.
What next?
The coming events have the same script with the past events of Besigye.
1. Bobi will be under house arrest for more than a month. However, we expect NUP to lodge an election petition in court but tif they fail, M7 will help another candidate to make the petition. M7 badly wants someone to petition so that he can further legitimize his government.
2. Every past election had a distraction. Last time, it was Kasese massacre, bijjambiya, women abductions etc. There was one where M7 fought wars with Lukwago which consumed most of our political time, there was also a time of M7 and Mengo confrontation. Other things which took our minds away from political moods where the killings (kirumira, abiriga and muslims). This time, I sense a confrontation with Mengo (God forbid). This is due to the way Buganda voted. There will also be some dramatic MP electral petitions more dramatic than the one of Wakayima Musoke of Nansana Municipality.
3. Just like it has always been with Besigye, Bobi fans are going to crown Bobi as the president of Uganda, It will not be the Entebe mu Ntebe they dreamt of, but it will give them satisfaction. To this day, some of us take Besigye as our president, Bobi is also going to be president of Many. But in the end, M7 will rule us for more 5 years.
4. In the middle of the coming 5 years, Bobi will arise again with mission 2026. His supporters will once get excited and will get a feeling that "this time, M7 is going". However, the script will remain the same. M7 will again be declared winner of 2026 elections when he is a very old man.
5. If M7 health gets worse, then we may have a Zimbabwe trick where Opposition will think M7 has been overthrown just for his puppet to emerge.
6. The opposition MPs are going to enter a M7 parliament and Bobi will be left with a few people just like Besigye was in the People Govt. No one will refuse to enter Parliament just because Bobi is in prison. Not even Muhammad Ssegirinya.
7. Bobi will count his votes to prove that he won, but somewhere in the middle the project will stall citing many reasons like our Dr forms have been stolen etc. The same happened to FDC during the last election.
8. Opposition has lost ground apart from Buganda and Teso. Rukungiri, Kasese, West Nile and the North are all gone. It looks like they only trusted one Opposition leader Besigye. And M7 will from now on turn other regions against Buganda making it seem like Baganda are tribalistic (By the way, I am not). So, in the next elections, it will Buganda against the Rest. M7 has really made Opposition fall in his trap.
9. As i talk, we have just handed M7 another 5 years in office, not by our wish but by unknowingly following his script.
Conclusion
Truth be told, Bobi Won Buganda and some few parts of Busoga areas. Basoga and Baganda are good siblings with a lot in common.
However, Bobi truthfully lost in other districts. Just make a call to some on Tooro, Bunyoro and Ankole. They will confess to you how M7 truthfully won those districts. During Besigye era, Opposition could win in all regions apart from Tooro and Bunyoro. This time, facþs show that Bobi truthfully lost in West Nile, Teso, Acholi, Lango and other areas apart from Buganda. So, this will be hard for Bobi to gain any moment. NRM is going to confine NUP to Buganda like it did to DP.
As I told you, I will be taking long to make political posts. It's all vanity. I am going to concentrate on my own political ambitions as well as working on a farm. 3 months back, i planted some 15 (fifteen) coffee trees, let me give them some time.
Wish you well in your struggle, let me focus on my own struggle.
