Telematically. This is how the first chapter of the World Economic Forum (from January 25 to 29), which will bring together again, this time through the screen, the most prominent economic and political figures at a global level, in what is perhaps the most momentous meeting in its 50-year history, with the world economy in a period of uncertainty with few precedents. Although the meeting will only be an appetizer of the main course, which will turn the traditional Davos Forum (Switzerland), at the Singapore Forum in May. The first time in history to be held outside the Alpine city and European borders, in a clear nod to the rise of power of the Asian continent’s economy.

But tomorrow begins the first part of “The Great Reboot”, the motto that the Forum has been coining since the beginning of last summer in reference to the pandemic and “to the rare and reduced opportunity it represents, to reflect, reimagine and restart our world and forge a healthier, more equitable and more prosperous future ”, in the words of Klaus Schwab, founder and CEO of the World Economic Forum.

And no one will miss the appointment. From the president of the country where the pandemic began (China), Xi Jinping, even the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel in political leadership – in addition to the French president, Emmanuel Macron or the president of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen-. Meanwhile, on the economic side, the vice president of the European Central Bank (ECB) will participate, Christine Lagarde, as well as the governor of the Bank of France, François Villeroy Galhau and also the Bank of England, Andrew Bailey.

In addition, the Secretary General of the United Nations Organization (UN), Antonio Guterres; the director of the World Health Organization (who), Tedros adhanomGhebreyesus o the president of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Angel Gurría.

On the Spanish side, the participation of the President of the Government has also been confirmed tomorrow, Pedro Sanchez, who will speak as a speaker in the session “Moving towards a new social contract.”
