{UAH} So many ministers have lost
By Kasim Kayiira
-- News I've just heard from the Greater Masaka region is that several government ministers have lost their seats including the Vice President Edward Ssekandi. I've been told that he's been hospitalized following the shock of defeat after representing this area for 27 years. We wish him a quick recovery.
You'll remember a few years ago, a govt minister Dr Miyingo Kezimbira collapsed and died after being defeated by a young fresh graduate Isaac Ssejjoba.
Other notable losers in the same area is a brother to the Vice President and incumbent minister of agriculture Vincent Ssempijja, minister for children affairs Nakiwala Kiyingi, state minister for micro finance Haruna Kasolo.
In the central region, minister for lands Betty Kamya is said to have lost her seat and one of the biggest losses for the ruling NRM party is the party parliamentary chief whip Ruth Nankabirwa, the one who drove the nail into the age limit debate ensuring all party members voted to remove the age limit which paved the way for president Museveni to stand again.
If it was punishment for voting on this article 102(b), the voters have delivered their blow. It'll be interesting to see how the parliamentary representation pans out finally. It'll be interesting to see the full composition of parliament once the waters settle. We are most likely going to have several court cases resulting from this election given the number of seats.
