{UAH} Tears as NUP’s Campaign coordinator collapses on trial in Masaka court
MASAKA- It was a teary afternoon at the Masaka Chief Magistrate's Court when one of the National Unity Platform NUP supporters Charity Nakayinda collapsed.
Nakayinda and 94 other NUP supporters and coordinators of the presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu were on Wednesday last week arrested during campaigns in Kalangala district.
She was among the group that appeared before the Masaka Chief Magistrate Charles Yeitesi, to answer to charges of inciting violence and participating in activities likely to spread of an infectious disease.
Nakayinda, who was standing alongside the other accused persons lost consciousness and collapsed in the dock. She was later carried out by the police officers and NUP supporters.
The charges stem from crowds that gathered in Kalangala on Wednesday, to meet Kyagulanyi, during his campaigns in the islands.
Kyagulanyi was airlifted from the Islands to Kololo airstrip in Kampala and eventually to his home in Magere, Wakiso district.
