Two years ago, Hon Segona came up with a law targeting FDC in parliament. The Administration of Parliament Bill 2019 sought to subject the LOP, Opposition Chief Whip and Opposition Parliamentary Commissioners to a popular vote by all MPs. Segona wrongly anticipated that FDC wud still keep the simple opposition majority of MPs after the 2021 elections.
In good faith the FDC leadership under LOP Hon Betty Aol Ocan resisted his obnoxious Bill arguing that the M7 junta would grab the opportunity and use their numerical strength in parliament to elect puppets from the opposition. The puppets wud serve in the interest of the M7 junta. The probability of electing the likes of Jimmy Akena or Betty Amongi of UPC as LOP wud be high.
To cut a long story short, the Bill was dropped and as we stand now, Segona and his colleagues in NUP are set to be the greatest beneficiaries from this particular FDC endeavor.
