One of Gerald Ford's sons told this story. On the day of Jimmy Carter's inauguration, the Ford son was sitting in a hotel room playing cards with two agents assigned to his protection detail. The moment Carter finished the oath of office, both agents stood up and without saying a word, left the room never to return. Didn't even say goodbye.

Edit: Trump extended the protection for his kids for six months before leaving office.
