Creation of Uganda-Saharawi parliamentary friendship group
Kampala (Uganda), 1 March 2021 (SPS) - An inter-parliamentary group of friendship between the Republic of Uganda and Saharawi Republic was created in an act at the Saharawi embassy in Kampala.
Uganda National Assembly underlined that announcing the establishment of such group on the occasion of SADR anniversary translates Uganda's strong solidarity with the struggle of the Saharawi people against Morocco's illegal occupation of parts of the Saharawi Republic.
Speaking on the occasion, Chargé d'affaires of the Saharawi embassy Mr. Mohamed Ali Mohamed briefed the audience on the resumption of war in Western Sahara, as a result of Morocco's violation of the ceasefire concluded under the auspices of the United Nations and African Union.
He also highlighted the grave situation of human rights in the occupied Saharawi territories, southern Morocco and inside university sites.
The ceremony also attended by members of Uganda Movement of Solidarity with Western Sahara. (SPS)
