Kanungu: Abandoned Wife Commits Suicide

Police in Kanungu District are investigating a case in which a 35-year-old woman ended her life by hanging in a tree.

Elly The Kigezi Region Police Spokesman identified the deceased as Jolly Tumusiime, a resident of Busheregyenyi village in Mpungu Sub County.

The deceased according to locals, has been having a domestic dispute with her husband Begumisa Gracious, who is alleged to have sold off all their family land.

After selling the family land, the husband reportedly left for Kibale District where he settled.

The deceased, locals say, picked a nylon rope on Friday morning, leaving her children at home and went to her father in-law's farm where she hanged herself in a tree.

The in-law Kabajarika Vanansi reported to Mpungu Police Post who arrived, took relevant statements, did a Post-mortem and ordered that the body to be buried.

The case was registered at Mpungu Police Station under reference number SD 09/25/03/2021 to help in further investigation.
