{UAH} Museveni's 1986 liberation a sham and proliferation of tyranny

Museveni's 1986 liberation a sham and proliferation of tyranny

The army taking over kidnap and inhuman torture of Ugandans attached to the opposition is a clear signal that the rest of the time Gen Museveni will spend at the helm of the country's leadership will be a crude caricature of Idi Amin Dada's rule of 1971-1979.

Any sane Ugandan, whether a direct beneficiary of the Museveni patronage or not, must publicly regard with extreme repugnance such arbitrary acts the UPDF/SFC are currently imposing onto Ugandans.

The law is very clear - the whole of chapter four of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda 1995 as amended- is dedicated to protection, promotion of fundamental and other human rights and civil liberties. Unless the commander in chief and his loyal sub-commanders of the security have their own laws or are reading the constitution upside down.

Judging what is going on presently or what has been going on for a while, corroborates with indisputable evidence that there is absolutely no rule of law in Uganda, and that the 1981-1986 liberation was a sham.

If rule of law means arbitrary acts of kidnap, forced disappearance and torture when we have fully functioning courts of law to adjudicate on issues concerning those who break the law, then we must be copying and pasting a stilted brand of democracy only applicable in Uganda and other parts of Africa.

Rule of law being an ingredient of democracy, absence of the former is an indisputable indication that we are enjoying a Musevenocracy- a Ugandan brand of democracy invented in 1986 by yours truly the Jaja of the nation who liberated us from tyranny and invented his own tyranny.

Rule of law, just like democracy, has its ingredients and absence of one ingredient is like salt missing in the sauce. Firstly; citizens shouldn't be discriminated against because of their political belonging, but oftentimes the president and his right-hand people have spewed unfortunate comments in the media which have brought the office of the president into hatred, ridicule, contempt and disrepute.

During the Tarehe Sita celebrations, he said that those who do not support the NRM will not be supported by the government. Secondly, there must be absence of arbitrary rules or suffice it to say that law shouldn't be taken into one's hands.

The evidence to this is overwhelming of how the security forces act outside the confines of the law but the elders in government instead of having shame at such offence against the law, instead glorify violence.

Thirdly, rule of law calls for equal application of the law regardless of whether you are a government stooge or belonging to the other side of the opposition. Belonging to the opposition in Uganda seems like belonging to the other side of the wretched world.

We saw all how NRM politicians held processions and huge rallies with police protection but on the opposition side, a mere intention to pass through a town calls for the same police and the army to deploy guns and teargas as though we are in the war.

Lastly, rule of law calls for enjoyment of inherent rights without undue limitation by the state. Using violence, kidnap, forced disappearance and torture to punish people for simply expressing themselves is absolutely an indication that Museveni can never dialogue with anyone, but instead will always unleash state terror against those who dissent with him intellectually, constitutionally and peacefully.

With these vagaries and fluctuations making up Gen Museveni's administration since he captured power, it is foolhardy to credit him for catapulting the past tyrannies when he himself has introduced his own form of tyranny which he thinks is okay but a total offence against the established supreme law which we are all supposed to be subservient to.

Museveni's 1986 liberation a sham and proliferation of tyranny especially with the legitimacy of the Uganda House of Parliament!

Kalwenza, you right on the money. NUP/BW is leading us to believe that there's democracy and rule of law in Uganda.

You, who has been kidnapped and tortured multiple times, are the perfect example and the right person to give evidence of lack of democracy and rule of law.

Katikiro Mayiga, who also has been kidnapped and clearly knows that there's no democracy and rule of law, has instead passionately urged the nation to accept rigged elections and further said that M7 is the best president Uganda has ever had.

That's in direct contrast with the reality and the truth which you have emphasized. People like Mayiga are the reason why M7 is still clinging on power and continue to abduct, torture and kill innocent people, because there's no democracy and rule of law.

Honestly this a bitter truth that the regime should deal with.

Let them redefine what peace and FREEDOM are, and think of why they went to the bush

Would agree with the writer for this evidenced based article and probably go further to discredit the bush war stories -attributing all the murders to Obote soldiers.

This pattern of murders is very similar - night raids to homes to kidnap and murder people, and all sorts of high crimes against civilians similar to what was happening in the bush war-History repeating itself.

Most of us appear as if we have just woken up to this nightmare previously hidden from the public.
Our rich donors are now tightening the financial screws to the absolute ruler.

Listening to American Foreign Policy priorities on human rights worldwide, it looks our ruler may not see the $960m annual cheque come through without significant concessions of accountability and transparency.

This could be followed by EU with the donation cuts, which could slide the country further into a deeper hole.

Gen.Idi Amin and Gen. Museveni are gunmen having a lot in common:

1). Amin captured power on 25th January 1971. Museveni came to power on 25th January 1986. January 25th is a day of great misfortune for Uganda.

2). Gen Amin had no parliament while Museveni forces the parliament to do whatever he desires.
]
3). Amin wanted to be life-president, while Museveni is doing everything possible to die in the
Presidential office.

3)Museveni and Amin shared the same common enemy- Dr. Milton Obote Apollo.

4)Museveni's regime of murder and terror is now abducting, detaining and torturing Ugandans the same way Amin's regime did. How can you arrest civilians, like Nubian Li, and subject them to military court-martial?

The only reason M7 appeared democratic he never faced an opposition that had the real potential of overthrowing him.

With the coming of NUP and Bobi Wine who mean business, his true colours have come out.

Wily I'm certain you are not silly neither any of us. It's clear like day and night that M7 is droning, detaining, torturing and killing innocent people. Why?

Because M7 is a life president just like Amin. Willy, the difference between M7 and Amin is, M7 is building a system of family/relatives and tribesmen as the only people ordained to rule Uganda for life.

All significant positions in the army, police, prison, finance, URA, operations wealth creation, NADS, Wazalendo SACCO etc are occupied by either M7's family/relatives, arm or tribesmen! That's why M7 is droning, detaining, torturing and killing innocent people! Instead of calling it what it is and demanding unconditional release of all the innocent people in detention, Bishop C Lwanga asked M7 to forgive them.

Then Katikiro Mayiga said that those doing it are intending to make M7 look bad, yet M7 is the best president Uganda has ever had! Fellow Ugandans, that's where the problem is!

Fellow Ugandans, let's call a spade a spade. Just like Fool Figure, Baby Cool, Betty Kamya, Basaja Mivule and others whom M7 has compromised because they don't have a conscience and a mind of selfishness and greed, Lwanga and Mayiga have the same mind.

Yet during the Amin regime everyone was united, including bishop Luwum who sacrificed his life by sticking to the truth.

Lwanga and Mayiga don't need to sacrifice their lives by calling a spade a spade, if the don't want to, however let them keep quiet! Asirise teyejusa.

However, Lwanga is like Coca Cola, he is always on each and every occasion that M7 organises! And you could think that Mayiga is M7's mouthpiece, congratulating M7 for rigging elections and saying, awangale ai Sabalwanyi M7!

If they don't have anything good to say, let the keep quiet. Stay away from the a ruthless killer, M7 for heaven's sake.

This is so far the most barbaric regime this country has ever had.
