{UAH} Police nets 30 over anti-Museveni protests – #ugnews24

Police in Kampala have this morning cracked down on about 30 members of the National Unity Platform party whom they allege to be ring leaders of the anticipated anti-government protests.

The Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire confirmed the arrests and revealed that the suspects were this Tuesday morning found in different city outskirts carrying placards inscribed with wordings denouncing the presidency of Mr. Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Museveni.
"Our operation in the Kampala and Wakiso areas has led us to the arrest of at least 30 people. Some had placards and were already spreading hateful messages of incitement," Owoyesigire told the media this morning. "We are holding them in our custody at CPS Kampala. We will charge them with incitement of violence and engaging in unlawful disruptive behaviour," he adds.
The arrests come a day after the leader of the National Unity Platform party Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert aka Bobi Wine made remarks denouncing the presidency of Museveni. Kyagulanyi instead asserts that he won the seat with about 54.19% of the total vote. Bobi Wine called on his supporters to engage in peaceful protests across the country in demand for what he termed as 'our victory'.
