{UAH} NEW PM ROBINAH NABANJA TELLS OFF SCRIBE MWENDA

By Isaac Wandubile

The newly appointed Prime Minister Robinah Nabanja has implored critics like Andrew Mwenda and Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago to act more prudently and more fairly by avoiding judging and condemning her as unfit without adequately acquainting themselves about her prowess and track record first.

The two have been on media channels castigating the President for making her PM on grounds that she is too junior and unsophisticated to measure to the record and profile of giants who have previously occupied that office namely Dr. Samson Kiseka, Cosmas Adyebo, Kintu Musoke, Apollo Nsibambi, Amama Mbabazi and Ruhakana Rugunda. Mwenda asserted on NBS on Thursday that making an intellectually unsophisticated person like Nabanja PM simply means Gen Museveni and his supporters were never genuine in their criticism of Bobi Wine who they castigated as unfit simply because he lacked prior experience.

Nabbanja, who was speaking to Mulengera News at her office this Friday evening, says such analogy doesn't apply to her because she is way more experienced in leadership than Kyagulanyi. She asserts that if Kyagulanyi, who nearly became President after being MP for less than 5 years, there is no way a person of her experience, education qualifications and many years of service in public office can be written off as unfit for the position of Prime Minister.

She also asserts she is destined to succeed as Prime Minister because she will be surrounded by a team of highly experienced politicians in cabinet many of them are way bigger than her both in age and experience. She says this is the reason nobody should even worry about her experience because she is going to be surrounded by the very best and all she needs is humility as she leads and coordinates such eminent men and women in the conduct of government business.

"I have been through all the levels of leadership training and I have had the opportunity to be mentored by the best. I was RDC under three Presidency Ministers including Dr. Rugunda, Amama Mbabazi and Beatrice Wabudeya. I was a teacher, became district councilor in Kibale, Woman MP, treasurer for NRM caucus, Commissioner of Parliament and now Minister. My brother Bobi Wine was backed by many people for President of Uganda before he had even completed one term as MP and here is Nabanja well educated with all that work experience being told isn't fit to be Prime Minister of Uganda? Where is the logic in what these people are saying?"

She adds: "In all the places where I have served I have mentored many fellow leaders and young cadres many of them are now MPs in this 11th Parliament." On the issue of mentoring, Nabanja made reference to the likes of Busia Woman MP Auma Hellen Wandera, John Mulimba who was Speaker for Busia at the time she served as area RDC and Buwekula County MP Mbabazi Pascal who for years has been serving as a news anchor at her Kakumiro Community radio which is one of the greatest and most influential media houses in Bunyoro sub region.

Nabbanja also wonders what motivates pundits like Erias Lukwago to pass judgment on her yet they simply don't know enough about her. She thinks they just dislike her because of her simplified way of approaching things as opposed to coming off as too sophisticated.

"Hon Erias Lukwago I wonder why he would be against my appointment. I don't know him. I'm not his competitor. He is in apposition and I'm in NRM and I'm sure he really doesn't know me that much. I wonder why he would be against me yet I don't threaten his political existence in any way," said Nabanja who equally had no kind words for veteran journalist Andrew Mwenda. "I have heard Mr. Andrew Mwenda is equally against my appointment saying I can't manage this job [of being Prime Minister]. He doesn't know me & I don't know him either. Why are they judging me so prematurely and unfairly? What's the basis? Why not give me a chance and see how I perform? Is it because I'm a woman? I don't know. Don't they know that the flexibility of the chain is its strength?"
